The School

Emotional, affectionate, caring and yet firm, woman is the perennial source of inspiration for man in the odyssey of life.
She plays a pivotal role in the family-the basic institution upon which society is built. The woman not only feeds the family, but also provides moral instruction to maintain honesty and integrity in society.

In Manusmriti, it is said : "A spiritual teacher is 10 times more important than a teacher. A father is 100 times more worthy than a spiritual teacher. A mother is 100 times worthier than the father."

The economic compulsions on account of abject poverty have drawn the attention of woman away from providing moral strength and courage, turning to mundane responsibilities like tilling the field, gathering fodder and collecting precious drinking water. The girl child is looked down upon as a service provider rather than a potential bread winner. The priorities of education in such a scenario diminish, very often shutting out opportunities for even the best girls.

Is it fair to crush a bud even before it has an opportunity to bloom? Should economic needs deprive young girls from finding a rightful position in a progressive society? Who will take the onus of providing the girl child the position she rightly deserves in the 21st century society?

The Him Jyoti School, established in 2005,
with the aim of empowering the girl child through education, is a bold step taken in this direction. It will remove all impediments from their path and provide quality education to girls from socio-economically deprived families, in a boarding school environment totally fee of cost. It will help girls from backward rural areas to lead a purposeful life and become useful citizens of the country.
